Name Better Marriages of Florida in Your Will
The most common planned gift is a
gift through a Donor’s will, known as a bequest. Ask your attorney how
you, a Donor, can arrange a gift of a specific amount, a percentage, or
even all or part of the residual of your estate.
It is essential that you clearly
identify any organization to which you want to give. The suggested
wording for a bequest to Better Marriages of Florida is:
For a bequest of a specific
sum:
"I give, devise and bequeath to
the Association of Couples for Marriage Enrichment of Florida, Inc.,
a Florida not-for-profit corporation doing business as Better Marriages
(of Florida), the sum of $______________ ."
For a bequest of a percentage of
the estate:
"I give, devise and bequeath to
the Association of Couples for Marriage Enrichment of Florida, Inc.,
a Florida not-for-profit corporation
doing business as Better Marriages (of Florida), _______ percent of the rest,
residue and remainder of my estate."
For a contingent bequest:
"If any of the above-named
beneficiaries should predecease me, I hereby bequeath his or her share
to the Association of Couples for Marriage Enrichment of Florida,
Inc., a Florida not-for-profit corporation doing business as Better
Marriages (of Florida), to be used for its general purposes."
Gifts through bequests are used by
Better Marriages of Florida where need is greatest in a given year.
Donors are also welcome to specify a bequest to be applied towards a
particular program at Better
Marriages.
A bequest to the national Better Marriages organization might be worded:
"I give, devise and bequeath to
the Association of Couples for Marriage Enrichment, Inc., a Delaware
not-for-profit corporation doing business as Better Marriages in
Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina, the sum of
$______________ ."
